Protection For You

Your car or light truck was built to exact specifications. We are confident in its reliability, but local climate, road conditions and normal vehicle usage cause even the best components to fail occasionally.

The GM Protection Plan is your safeguard against costly vehicle repairs and provides peace of mind while you're on the road. When you're protected by GMPP, both parts and labour are covered, you pay only your deductible, if any, for covered repairs.

Budget/Inflation Protection

GMPP provides protection for you and your family against unexpected and rising repair costs. It can be the most valuable option you choose for your vehicle.

Historically, automotive repair costs have increased each year. This chart gives you a general idea of what repairs may cost without GMPP.

These prices indicate approximate repair costs. They are not intended to be used as an actual list for services performed at GM Dealerships.

Normal Wear

GMPP improves with age providing coverage to parts and assemblies that simply wear out. It is this unique feature that makes GMPP even more valuable, particularly as your vehicle ages.

Outside influences such as local climate, road conditions, maintenance intervals, even driving habits, contribute to the strain and 'wear' on your vehicle's components. A few examples of parts that simply wear out are piston rings, ball joints, water pumps and alternators.

This 'Normal Wear' Coverage applies to parts and assemblies covered by GMPP. It does not apply to non-covered or maintenance items such as brake shoes, pads, shock absorbers, etc.

Rental/Alternate Transportation Allowance

A $40 per day allowance is provided by GMPP to help cover the cost of a rental vehicle or other form of alternate transportation.

This allowance is made available while your vehicle is in the shop for covered repairs that require at least 2 hours of shop labour time, or that make your vehicle inoperable requiring it to be held overnight.

This benefit is subject to a $200 maximum per occurrence.

Your GM Roadside Benefit also provides you with a personalized trip planning service to any destination in Canada or the U.S.

Easy to buy

You may be able to include the cost of General Motors Protection Plans as part of your lease or finance payments.

This valuable protection can save you considerable repair expenses and associated towing and rental costs during the term of the plan, yet is extremely affordable.

For example, if you are leasing your vehicle, the GM Protection Plan can be added to your vehicle for approximately $16 per month*.

If you are purchasing your vehicle, a comprehensive, longer term GM Protection Plan can be added to your vehicle for approximately $18 per month**.

*Based on a 48 month/80,000 kilometre GMPP coverage on a Cobalt/G5 in Ontario.

Monthly payments are approximate, and are used for illustration purposes only. Payments will vary by type of vehicle, lease or finance term, GMPP plan term, deductible and coverage level selected, and by the Region in Canada in which you live.

Your GM Dealer can provide you with the specific plan term, coverage level and pricing that best suits your individual needs.
